Rosa Laevigata Michaux, also named Sugar Pot, Honey Pot, belongs to
rose family. Rose is a kind of wild green trailing plant, and is
abundantly distributed over north China, middle China, south China,
southwest etc. The fruit is sweet and little saline with the flavor
of honey and fragrant. It contains kinds of vitamins, inorganic
salts, amino acid, carbohydrate, and its Vc content is high to
1187.3mg/100g, which benefits human’s health. Rosa Laevigata
Michaux can prevent cancer cell spreading and prevent viruses,
cataract, skin-age, skin wrinkle, and so on. 《Compendium of Materia
Medica》classify it as traditional Chinese medicine. Clinic
practices proved that it has good effect to fixing sperm, benefit
kidney, diminish inflammation, maintaining face, treating
arteriosclerosis, cough etc. The ministry of national health has
not only rated Rosa Laevigata Michaux as medicine but also as new
resource of foods, and now has developed it as the third generation
wild fruit foods with rose fruits and sallow thorn.
1. Rosa Laevigata brown pigment
It’s extracted from the fruits of wild Rosa Laevigata
Michaux through pure physical and chemical technique. Its main
component is multi-phenol compounds, brown red paste, and it’s
soluble in water and ethanol solution, especially hot water, while
insoluble in edible oil and non-polar solution. The water solution
of this product is a little yellow in somewhat acid environment and
is a little red brown in somewhat alkaline environment. It’s also
stable to heat and light, and is widely used in food beverage and
